For over eight decades, Ouay Un has grown alongside Thai society.

The story began in 1947 with Mr. Sathian Somboonvechakarn, a young man who emigrated from Meixian province, China. He came to Thailand with grit and determination, starting as an apprentice in a Chinese pharmacy in Chachoengsao, before moving to Bangkok’s Yaowarat district (Chinatown), the heart of Chinese herbal medicine. There, he mastered traditional medical knowledge and became a licensed practitioner in both traditional medicine and pharmacy.

Driven by dedication, he founded “Ouay Un Dispensary”, a small pharmacy near Phra Buddha Yodfa Bridge, in Thonburi District. The name “Ouay Un” means clean and safe. That small pharmacy became a place of care and trust, providing treatments and herbal formulas, many of which, like Mi Ki Fu skin medicine, are still manufactured with popularity today.

The second generation, Mr. Sittichai Somboonvechakarn, expanded the business, founding Ouay Un Dispensary Co., Ltd., a manufacturing factory in 1986 in Bang Khae, Bangkok. He modernized the production processes for herbal medicines such as Andrographis paniculata Capsules and Turmeric Capsules — both later listed in Thailand’s National Essential Drug List. Products like Kao Kui Water and Golden Dragon Herbal Lozenges were improvised and popularized. The factory was certified with ASEAN GMP in 2005.
